The Port of Longyearbyen is the main logistic point for the cruise industry and for cargo to the different settlements on Spitsbergen. The port is located close to the city centre and has nearly 30 overseas transit calls during the three summer months in addition to almost 300 turn-around operations for expedition cruise vessels from April to October. At Bykaia cruise pier we have a new service house with tourist information, WiFi and shopping.

Visit Svalbard is the official tourism board for Svalbard and Longyearbyen; a member-based organisation and a neutral development and coordinating organ of the local tourism industry. The local travel trade is committed and well-organized. Together with Port Longyear we develop and market Longyearbyen and the Isfjord area as a unique, attractive and sustainable cruise destination. The main objective is to motivate cruise lines to plan itineraries which spend more time in our Arctic waters in order to fully enjoy all aspects of our Slow Cruise Isjford-concept.
