Russ has more than 16 years of experience in serving insurance companies through an array of projects, including internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and NAIC Model Audit Rule (MAR) audit, cybersecurity consulting, regulatory compliance consulting, internal controls advisory, IT audit, enterprise risk management, vendor risk management, enterprise risk management and SOC reporting. Russ also co-leads Baker Tilly’s IT examination practice performing IT examinations of covered insurance companies on behalf of state departments of insurance. Russ has the unique experience of viewing the insurance industry through the lens of a financial statement auditor, an internal auditor, an examiner and a consultant interfacing regularly with financial, IT and insurance operations leaders throughout his career.
Russ also leads Baker Tilly’s Digital Asset practice. Russ has served and consulted exchange traded cryptocurrency funds, national securities exchanges, broker dealers, financial services information services companies, digital assets companies, digital services technology platforms and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).
