Mississippi State University
Profile
The MSU steel research team serves a wide range of technical needs for industry partners and government agencies. Interest areas span conventional and advanced manufacturing, process/grade development (e.g. structural, tool, & automotive advanced high-strength steels), and multiscale process-structure-property-performance modeling. Our facilities enable study of all aspects of the material life cycle, including casting (vacuum induction melting, 50lb), hot/cold rolling (2/4Hi reversing mill, 420-ton force), forging, heat treatment, physical simulation (Gleeble 3500 + general purpose/Hydrawedge/torsion), conventional and high-rate mechanical testing, sheet metal forming, hardness, nanoindentation, environmental corrosion, and microstructure (metallography, texture, tomography, composition).
