Profile

NSK rolling bearings for the steel and metal industry are expressly designed to endure, performing beyond conventional thinking in a uniquely punishing life. Heavy loads and staggering shock loads. Intense heat. High speeds, ultra-low speeds and rapid transitions between. Contamination from mill scale and water vapor. The challenges are diverse and considerable, but due to our intense product development and collaboration with customers, NSK delivers optimal bearing solutions for furnaces, continuous casters, hot and cold rolling mills and cluster mills, as well as virtually every other application throughout the mill, including pumps, motors, compressors, cranes and conveyors. Visit NSK at AIST to find the ideal bearing solution for your needs.

Products

  • For Drive End of Casters: SWR Spherical Roller
NSK’s SWR™ series spherical roller bearings are ideally designed for continuous casting machine applications, extending segment life and optimizing maintenance interval efficiencies with superior resistance to progressive wear and a longer operating life.

...

  • Spherical roller bearings used in guide rolls of continuous casting machines operate under extremely severe conditions and suffer from wear that would not normally occur under most other operating conditions. Heavy loads at ultra-low speeds. Debris and water contamination. Roll bending stress. All of the ingredients for a short bearing life. In the worst cases, bearing fracture. With extreme durability and core toughness, NSK SWR™ Spherical Roller Bearings are engineered to deliver superior resistance to wear and the onset of progressive bearing damage - promoting longer operating life and reducing unplanned maintenance downtime.
  • Float End of Casters: NUB Cylindrical Roller
The NUB series cylindrical roller bearings are engineered specifically for the free end of strand guide rolls, accommodating roll shaft bending and expansion while running with reduced sliding friction and wear for a longer, reliable operating life....

  • While contending with high heat, heavy loads, low speed and water exposure, the bearings used in continuous casting machinery must operate with reliability to ensure that yield, productivity, and cost-efficiency is maximized. NSK’s new NUB series cylindrical roller bearings are designed to be particularly effective for the free end of strand guide rolls, accommodating roll shaft bending and expansion while running with reduced sliding friction and wear for a longer, reliable operating life.

    PROVEN ADVANTAGES

› Extended operating life – as much as 3 times that of alternative solutions

› Reduced internal differential sliding friction and wear › Accommodates roll shaft bending / misalignment

› Smoothly absorbs roll expansion resulting from high operating temperatures

› Easy installation with non-separable design

  • Work Rolls: Sealed-Clean Four-Row Tapered Roller
These bearings are engineered specifically to withstand the heavy and impact loads transmitted - radially and axially - in the work rolls of rolling mill stands, delivering reliability and productivity in the most aggressive environments.

...

  • Four-row tapered roller bearings are engineered to withstand the heavy and impact loads transmitted - radially and axially - as passing steel is reduced in thickness by the work rolls in rolling mill stands. They must also accommodate wide speed variations including rapid acceleration and decelerations. But arguably the most arduous challenges faced by these bearings are environmental: not only high temperatures, but also contending with mill scale contamination and water ingress.

NSK Extra-Capacity Sealed-Clean Tapered Roller Bearings are manufactured with long-life Super-TF steel to deliver significantly higher durability and wear resistance in contaminated lubrication conditions. And for utmost reliability and operating life amid aggressive environments, NSK’s Sealed-Clean design offers improved heat- and water-resistant sealing protection, promoting reduced grease consumption and reduced maintenance costs.

  • Back-Up Rolls: Four-Row Cylindrical Roller
NSK four-row cylindrical bearings are engineered specifically to accommodate the extremely heavy and impact loads in the back-up rolls of rolling mill stands, deliver high capacity and high accuracy for improved precision in rolled steel.

...

  • NSK four-row cylindrical bearings are engineered specifically to accommodate the extremely heavy and impact loads - while running smoothly and accurately - in the back-up rolls of rolling mill stands. Amid particularly harsh operating conditions, NSK’s long-life Super-TF steel provides significantly higher durability to counteract the heavy rolling load and the high probability of compromised bearing lubrication. Available in a large range of design types with high-performance cage options, and manufactured to precision tolerances, NSK four-row cylindrical bearings are optimized to deliver high capacity and high accuracy for uninterrupted and precise rolling.
  • Reconditioning Services
In the arduous environment of continuous casting and rolling mills, bearing fatigue can be anticipated, and the effective service life of the bearing can be extended through a service program to recondition bearings to like-new specifications.

...

  • From the outset, NSK performs an exhaustive damage analysis to evaluate a bearing’s potential for successful reconditioning and to identify root causes of damage in order to assist our customers with implementing corrective or preventative maintenance measures. Successfully reconditioned bearings can be returned to service, or into critical-spare inventory, thereby:

    • Extending the life of the bearing
    • Reducing replacement costs
    • Eliminating long lead times
    • Optimizing inventory utilization
