For more than 50 years VELCO is known as reliable partner for the steel and refractory industry.
Velco supplies refractory gunning and slinger machines, as well as tailor made manipulators for the hot gunning repair of EAF, ladle and RH snorkels.

Newest models of gunning robots include camera's and auto- gunning options.

With VELCO’s patented moistening system GUNMIX (R) the mixture of material and water is improved.
This reduces dust and rebound in the dry gunning process.

VELCO also produces pneumatic transport equipment for the injection of e.g. carbon or lime at the EAF, for slag foaming process or for analysis correction and desulfurization at the LF. Machine type EKS-K has a rotor feed dosing included which gives a constant material flow with accuracy of 0,5%.


For the repair of local hot spots at the BF VELCO offers equipment by which Rutilit (a synthetic titanium dioxide of Venator Corp.) is injected into the blast furnace tuyere.

Lance can be operated by joystick, pre programmed gunning sequences or even after reading from laser scanner. This reduces repair time and give more operational safety. Furnace gunning can be made from the pulpit.

    Using a camera in the gunning head the gunning can be watched and recorded.

    The Velco dosing system EKS-K is a proven design for injecting carbon or lime into EAF. Main component is a horizontal rotor driven by an electric motor. Powder flow rate will be constant with accuracy of 0,5%....

    • Steel production in EAF requires constant feed of carbon powder, lime or bio mass. Variations in powder quality, density, grain size or humidity cause changes in flow rate.

    Velco GmbH /Germany developed and supplies since 50 years the dosing system EKS-K. It consists of a pressure vessel with an outlet with mechanical dosing system. A rotor is driven by an electric motor. The pockets of the rotor are filled with powder and discharged into the coneying line. This volumetric feed is constant with accuracy of 0,5%. Changes in feed rate are optained by changing motor speed and vessel pressure. Line clogging is prevented by analysing the pressure in the conveying line.

    The Injection vessel can have up to 4 outlets having identical feed rate.
