At the heart of Affival Cored Wire by Opta is the art of steelmaking.  The first step in refining steel is primary metallurgy which entails the processing of ore into liquid iron. The next step is secondary metallurgy which refines liquid iron into different steel grades for a multitude of industries.  These end uses range from steel girders for construction applications to steel coils for the automotive industry.  For years, Affival Cored Wire and the ESM Group have been supplying steelmakers across the globe with the necessary products needed to refine steel for demanding applications.  Recently, Opta Minerals became the holding company for Affival Cored Wire and the ESM Group.  Together, we look forward to becoming the essential ingredient to steelmaking customers across the globe.
