Founded in 1979, INTOCAST took over the business activities of Eugen Schwarz GmbH, who since 1922, had been supplying the German and European steel industry with consumables for iron and steelmaking.

Through mergers and acquisitions, the INTOCAST Group has grown over the decades into an enterprise that is now active globally. INTOCAST has a strategically selected network of 12 German and 17 foreign sites, employing 1350 staff members worldwide and is one of the few companies to manufacture and market shaped and unshaped refractory products, casting auxiliaries as well as metallurgical slag additives.

  • In modern melting shops, teeming ladles are no longer mere transport vessels for liquid metal transfer. Nowadays, steel residence time in teeming ladles has increased along with prolonged porous plug stirring periods utilised in vacuum processes and ladle furnace reheating. It is of fundamental importance for the production of high quality steel that teeming ladle linings are optimised in-line with sophisticated process metallurgy requirements. INTOCAST provides refractory concepts covering applications of integrated steelmaking plants, mini mills and stainless steel melting shops.

  • In hybrid ladle linings, INTOCAST combines classic brick installations with monolithic refractory lining technology. Ladle floor and/or side walls are lined with self-flowing concrete or thixotropic material. The slag line is prepared with traditional Mag-Carbon brick masonry.
