MBL is a family owned company with a presence in Malta since 1860. We like to see ourselves as pioneers in the cruise industry having started as far back as the 1940’s when Caronia, Cunard’s “Green Goddess”, graced our shores. Fast forwarding to 1998, 5th generation Mifsud, Ivan took over the helm from his father, Ronald. In 2003, we expanded to Libya and operated there until the Arab spring of 2011. In 2006, we opened in Algeria with two calls, and also saw our first call at anchor, in Gozo. These landmark events were part of our vision to expand our business organically and to develop these destinations sustainably and in a way that made sense to our principals both in terms of cost and guest experience. The covid hiatus gave us the opportunity to rethink and refresh ourselves and pivot to a more sustainable approach in all our shore operations especially by offering experiential tours that offer value, authenticity and truly local experiences, presenting a true “sense of place”.
