Located to the east of Australia, New Caledonia comprises of the main island La Grande Terre, surrounded by the Loyalty Islands (Ouvéa, Lifou and Maré), the Isle of Pines and the Belep Islands. It is known for the largest lagoon in the world listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco, its biodiversity (classed 5th in the world), and its original mix of French, Melanesian and bushman cultures. New Caledonia Tourism is the national organization responsible for the development and the promotion of New Caledonia abroad.
