The TURBULA is used for the homogenous mixing of powders having very different bulk densities and particle sizes, and is routinely used by the pharmaceutical industry for uniformly dispersing API’s into excipients. The motion, based on the Schatz geometric theory, is most suitable for powders requiring very gentle mixing, as is desired for the blending of dendrite materials. Additionally, the blending of wet and dry materials is possible for applications involving extractions of chemical compounds. The TURBULA mixing basket can accommodate containers of any geometry, including test tubes, Erlenmeyer flasks, Separatory funnels, and any bottles. Another unique feature of this blender is that the mixing baskets are not dedicated to specific batch sizes. You can insert any size container, which can be filled up to 95%, into a TURBULA mixing basket. The mixing energies of the TURBULA are scalable to batch sizes of up to 50 liters. Larger volumes, up to 1000 liters, can be processed through the use of the WAB dyna-MIX line of mixers. Machines can include variable frequency drives, and timers, and the larger scale units can be controlled via PLC’s, with real time data transfer of machine operating conditions via Ethernet connections.
