Service Careers students in the Hospitality program learn more than just the skills it takes to land a job. They also are taught personal life skills and employability skills, such as job readiness and independent living.

Students learn how to work as a culinary assistant. The program provides them with technical training and experience in a variety of service occupations through the HospitAbilities curriculum.

The list of skills students develop in this program includes decision making under pressure, working both independently and in a team, and how to maintain focus in a high-activity environment.

About this Occupation

Jobs in this career field typically require prolonged standing and working. The work environment is often high temperature due to use of gas and electric cooking equipment as well as other commercial food preparation equipment. For success in this career, you should have the ability to make decisions, work both independently and as part of a team, and maintain composure while working under pressure. You should also have basic reading and math skills.

Kari Bailey is a Service Careers instructor who specializes in Hospitality at the Rockwell Campus. She joined the Francis Tuttle family from Deer Creek Public Schools, where she was a Special Education Instructor/Job Coach. She also worked as a Special Education Instructor at Putnam City Public Schools. Bailey obtained her Bachelors of Science in Special Education from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Crystal Wyckoff

Service Careers

Crystal Wyckoff is a Service Careers instructor at the Rockwell Campus. She joined the Francis Tuttle family from Putnam City High School, where she was a Special Education teacher. She also worked as a Habilitation Training Specialist at Independent Opportunities, Inc. Wyckoff obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Special Education from the University of Central Oklahoma.
