Welcome to the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching
The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), in parnership with the National Board of Medical Examiners consists of leaders who pioneered science-based training, education, and research for health and wellness coaching over the past 15 years. The objective of the National Board Certification is to provide a minimum standard and measure of foundational competencies: the knowledge, tasks and skills essential to the practice of health and wellness coaching. To date, the NBHWC has board certified more than 1,800 health & wellness coaches throughout the country.
The NBHWC also approves health & wellness coach training programs that meet a minimum set of program and faculty requirements. Graduates from these programs are eligible to sit for the exam to become National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coaches (NBC-HWC).
In addition, the NBHWC approves continuing education programs that provide educational opportunities for National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coaches who need to recertify every three years.
