Opening in April 2020, Galataport Istanbul, is a JV of two leading Turkish conglomerates, Dogus Group and Bilgili Holding. Galataport Istanbul is waterfront development project of $1,7 billion investment, including a unique cruise port, a luxury hotel brand, cafes, restaurants, small boutiques, along with two contemporary art museums within a 1.2km shoreline.
At the centre of the new developments will be the new cruise terminal to match world standards. Galataport Istanbul, the main port of Istanbul, is a unique project that will open new horizons in cruise tourism, especially in the Mediterranean countries. Designed to be quite unlike anything else, the terminal is being built underground on 29,000 square meters so that domestic and foreign tourists can continue their journey without any interruption. The temporary custom-area is separated from the rest of the site with a special three-metre high modular hatch system. All cruise operations will remain behind these hatches. The port has been designed to accommodate 3 ships, 15,000 passengers per day.
