In the 1960s, the first Consarc specialty furnace was developed to meet the evolving need for superalloys used in turbine engine components. More than 60 years later, Consarc is still on the forefront of vacuum and controlled atmosphere melting technology, and more than half of the vacuum furnaces in operation worldwide bear the Consarc name. Consarc designs and manufactures furnaces and related systems for Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM), Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR), Electroslag Remelting (ESR), Vacuum Precision Investment Casting (VPIC), Vacuum Heat Treatment (VHT, VAB) and other specialized furnaces for specific and proprietary processes.
