(Booth 602) NDC Technologies will be debuting the new LaserSpeed Pro M Series gauge for measuring the length and speed of moving, bouncing cylindrical products. Also on display will be the industry leading LaserSpeed Pro gauge and IG710e/SR710e coating sensors for metals processes. These high-performance gauges significantly improve process control across a wide range of mill applications and deliver production savings for quality-conscious manufacturers.
New Revolutionary Length and Speed Gauge for Bouncing, Unguided Moving Products
Many applications involving the production of long, continuous cylindrical products pose measurement challenges. Products that cannot be well-guided, move off-axis and move out of the measurement range make it difficult for traditional Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) gauges to keep the laser on the product's surface. This results in hard-to-obtain and unreliable length and speed measurements.
NDC’s new LaserSpeed Pro M Series gauge from the BETA LaserMike products family solves this problem. Unlike anything on the marketplace today, the patented LaserSpeed Pro M Series gauge uses a revolutionary LDV optical technique to provide the most reliable, robust length and speed measurements of small, bouncing and unguided cylindrical moving products. From tube and hose...to wire and cable...to rods, the LaserSpeed M Series gauge enables manufacturers to effectively control product speed and process functions in the most challenging applications. Manufacturers benefit significantly by reducing product give-away, minimizing scrap, avoiding loss in productivity and downtime, and realizing other savings.
The Industry Leading and Most Versatile Metals Length and Speed Gauge
The LaserSpeed® Pro gauge integrates easily into production networks providing the real-time data exchanges and tight processing efficiencies that today’s metals manufacturers need to deliver true product quality. LaserSpeed Pro delivers the highest accuracy in the industry (better than +/-0.03%) and the widest measurement depth of field for the full velocity range. This gauge can measure forward and reverse directions and down to true zero speed (product at standstill).
LaserSpeed Pro is an ideal replacement for mechanical contact encoders that are prone to a variety of measurement errors and high maintenance costs. Ethernet connectivity options support ModBus TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profinet IO and Profibus DP for improved operational control. Heavy-duty enclosures are available to protect the gauge in hot, hostile environments.
LaserSpeed is proven in numerous mill applications including continuous slab, billet and bloom casters; cutting control; elongation control in temper and skin pass mills; gauge control in hot and cold rolling mills; and other applications. There are over 10,000 LaserSpeed gauges installed worldwide.
On-Line Coating Measurements for Passivation and Other Processes
Engineered for a wide range of metal coating processes, the IG710e and SR710e near infrared gauges effectively measure a variety of coatings on metal coils in real-time. The IG710e provides highly accurate, versatile and reliable coating weight and coating thickness measurements, while the SR710e delivers the highest precision and performance for measuring thin, high-value coatings.
