Bornholms Museum
Summer has arrived along with countless experiences ready to be turned into wonderful memories by you and your loved ones.
For the second year in a row, Bornholm has been named Denmark’s best holiday destination at the well-established and prestigious Danish Travel Awards.
We are extremely proud and grateful, especially because it is the island’s guest who have voted to ensure this fabulous recognition of our lovely holiday island once again.
Bornholm voted Denmark’s best holiday destination 2022 & 2023.
You can feel the warm sand crumble between your toes, and as you lick the ice cream you bought right after your last dip in the sea, the sweet flavours mingle with a hint of sea salt – welcome to summer on Bornholm!
Bornholm is buzzing with life in summer. Wherever you go, you’ll find artisan shops selling Bornholm handicrafts, and cosy roadside stalls packed with punnets of plump Bornholm strawberries and new potatoes. Enjoy the abundance of intimate concerts held across the island, and a wide range of fun experiences for the whole family.
Bornholm gives you the best of Danish summer in one place.
The fact that Bornholm is an island only adds to that special holiday feeling because you have to travel by plane or ferry to get here. The holiday vibe sets in as soon as you reach the tranquility of the Baltic Sea, where you can lean back in your seat and let someone else take care of the transport.
There are several options if you want to sail to Bornholm: Take the ferry from Ystad to Rønne; the journey time is just 1 hour and 20 minutes – 3 hours in total if you drive from Copenhagen. You can also sail directly from Køge to Rønne, with a crossing of 5 hours and 30 minutes.
If you don’t want to bring your car to Bornholm, buses and trains depart from Copenhagen for Ystad and both stop right at the ferry terminal.
If you’re travelling from Germany, there is a direct ferry from Sassnitz/Rügen to Rønne on Bornholm that sails from March to December. The pleasant “Hammershus” car ferry sails from Wednesday to Monday all summer with several departures daily. The crossing takes just 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Why not fly to Bornholm? DAT flies directly from Kastrup and Billund to Rønne – it only takes 35 or 55 minutes respectively and is the perfect option for those who want a long weekend with time to properly unwind.
