The American Association of College's of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) was founded in 1898 to lend support and assistance to the nation's 30 osteopathic medical schools and 4 branch campuses, and to serve as a unifying voice for osteopathic medical education. Today, the Osteopathic Medical Colleges educate some 15,000 students; more than 20% of new U.S. medical students are attending an osteopathic medical school. Do you have a passion for helping people? You may want to consider a career in osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic physicians consider the whole person; physical, emotional and spiritual components. They use a hands-on system of diagnosis and treatment known as osteopathic manipulative medicine. They can specialize in any medical field and conduct important medical research.
