PhD Programs in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics
The Graduate Center
City University of New York
The Graduate Center (GC) of CUNY is a vibrant hub of graduate education: rigorous academic training and globally significant research intersect with the intellectual and cultural energy of New York City.
While the GC is "home" to science doctoral students, laboratory research takes place at 8 or more CUNY college campuses and affiliated institutions (e.g. New York Botanical Garden, American Museum of Natural History, Brookhaven Laboratories). Training areas in biomedicine are found in all four doctoral Programs. The largest urban public university in the country, CUNY is also one of the most diverse, with 29% of science doctoral students coming from under-represented groups. Students receive full funding for five years.
