The Amgen Scholars Program is a national program created to increase research opportunities for students committed to pursuing careers in the sciences. At Caltech, we provide students the opportunity to conduct summer research in biology, chemistry, and bio-technical related fields under the guidance of some of the worlds’ leading academic scientists. Research projects, along with scientific seminars, workshops, and networking events, prepare participants to pursue a Ph.D. or the joint M.D./Ph.D. degree and research careers in the sciences and biotechnology.
Applications from students with backgrounds historically underrepresented in the sciences (African Americans, Latin Americans, Native Americans and Pacific Islanders) are strongly encouraged to apply. We also encourage students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and those who attend small liberal arts colleges to apply.
