Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard
The Broad is a nonprofit institute and global leader in genomics and biomedicine, bringing together scientists from MIT, Harvard and Harvard affiliated-hospitals to tackle critical problems in biomedicine. The Broad's hybrid model combines the creativity of academia with the innovation of industry to develop new technologies and therapeutics focused on a range of disease areas -- cancer, infectious disease, psychiatric disease, cell circuitry, metabolism, and chemical biology and therapeutics.
The Broad Diversity Initiative currently offers an intensive 9-week summer research opportunity for undergraduates (BSRP) and a two-year postbac opportunity in cancer genomics for recent college graduates (BCGS). Our programs emphasize scientific communication, collaborative problem-solving, professional development outside the lab, and demystifying scientific careers. Our programs are open to students with a demonstrated commitment promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM disciplines. Students from underrepresented backgrounds in STEM are especially encouraged to apply.
