The Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Minnesota (MD/PhD) will prepare you for a career in academic medicine with training rooted in the University’s strong connection between health care education and scientific discovery. The Program is housed in the University of Minnesota’s Medical School, part of an expansive urban campus with over 50,000 students and one of the largest, most vibrant educational communities in the United States. The University consistently ranks in the top ten among public universities in both research awards and expenditures, and broad opportunities for research exist in the labs of over 100 research preceptors and twelve graduate school programs. Possible thesis topics span the full range of biological and physical sciences to include epidemiology and computational biology. Additionally, our students have complete access to clinical training opportunities in varied settings across the entire Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
